New Levels of Openness in Application Development
MANTIS uses XML and other open standards, as well as other open source tools to provide “best of breed” web access to Cincom’s MANTIS Runtime Environment. It extends the MANTIS programming language into the web programming environment for new applications, allowing collaboration with many current open standards and technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, XML, SOAP, HTML and JavaScript.
Because of the support for these standards, the resulting applications can be fully integrated with other web-enabled software. Together with your Java-enabled web server, MANTIS dramatically improves your web application development and integration capabilities. In fact, your application server becomes a MANTIS-enabled server, providing new levels of flexibility and openness.
MANTIS enables you to export MANTIS screen/form entities as XML documents for access via web browsers and web design tools. In addition, you can also send MANTIS information to non-MANTIS applications in a web-services style.
Capabilities supported by MANTIS XML include:
- Standards-based presentation using XHTML and Cascading Style Sheets
- Dynamic display and interaction using the Document Object Model
- Data interchange and manipulation using XML and XSLT
- JavaScript binding everything together
